Brazil extends anti-dumping duties on Chinese stainless steel

Brazil continues to implement anti-dumping measures against imported grade 200 and grade 410 cold-rolled stainless steel sheets originating from China. This is a document from the local Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry (Secex/MDIC) monitored by Kallanish.

The Brazilian authorities have accepted complaints from local supplier Aperam Inox Am é rica do Sul SA, stating that there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the import of the aforementioned products caused damage to domestic production in Brazil from April 2018 to March 2023.

According to the decision, cold-rolled stainless steel with a thickness of 0.35 to 4.75 millimeters imported from China, with product codes 7219.32.00, 7219.33.00, 7219.34.00, 7219.35.00, and 7220.20.90, will continue to be subject to a compensation tariff of $629.44 per ton.

This measure is valid for 5 years and will come into effect from May 27th.

In October 2013, the local Chamber of Commerce for Foreign Trade (Camex) imposed a fixed tariff of $235.59-853.46/ton on Chinese stainless steel plates, implementing anti-dumping measures for the first time.
